Cyno or algae?

If you look at the glass real close are you seeing individual strands of green algae? If not, I'm wondering if it is nothing more than a biofilm.

If it's a biofilm, it usually means that your skimmer isn't keeping up with your bioload. If so, a lower bioload is needed or a better skimmer, or too many nutrients are being added. If it's a biofilm, the mere process of cleaning of it off your glass will feed any filter feeders in your tank.

However, IMO if your tank is developing a biofilm quickly and it is predominately a SPS tank, there are too many nutrients in the water for them to thrive.

I'm curious if you are feeding DT's or similar phytoplanktons?

I used to feed cyclopeeze. Would that do it? My sps are doing quite well actually. I've had my stylo for 2 weeks and it's thriving. should I run phosguard? I currently run carbon. I don't think it's my bio-load. I'm running a pretty good skimmer plus a hang on filter. I only have 2 fish and it's a 20 gallon tank. The only other things in my tank are some random snails and 2 little crabs. That's all I have. What would be putting the nutrients into the water? I'll maybe replace my carbon and run some phosguard and see if that dosen't help. Any other opinions on what could be causing the problem?
