Darn goby keeps jumping

Ok, I bought a goby

and the guy keeps trying to get out of the display. Everytime I turn the lights out he swims up to the overflow and takes the water slide down into the sump. Three times I tried and he always ends up in the sump. I have egg crate above the overflow intake and still no worky. I put him into the display last night and turned my back for 20 seconds and found him on top of the bird netting cover mod. This is the third goby that I've had and the other two jumped, unfortunatly I wasn't home when it happened. Anyone else ever had this problem? Are Gobies notorious for doing this? Thanks for any input.

also do u have a sand bed? he def looks like a snad sifter

Yeah, I have a pretty deep about 3" sand bed. The only other fish in there are A GSM clown, Chromis, and Black sailfin blenny. All are pretty peaceful with each other.

Not sure if it's related, but my tailspot blenny was pretty freaked out by a lawnmower blenny in my tank. They're all friends now (took a few days), but in the beginning the tailspot would freak out and hide every time he saw the lawnmower. Maybe there's something going on with introducing multiple blenny species together that is scaring him? Could you relocate the sailfin to a different tank temporarily and see if the new blenny stays in the tank?

mixing blennys togeather isnt a really good idea althought u have a goby and a blenny

Gobies and blennies sometimes get spooked by each other because they can have very similar body shapes. Gobies will definitely jump. In my experience there is not "jump-safe" marine fish. All you can do is seal your tank up as tightly as possible. Don't worry about aeration as your skimmer does an awesome job of this. The canopy on my tank literally covered everything except a 1/2" spot where the filter outflow was and I had a firefish jump through it. Just try to seal up everything and you should be fine.

Wow, I didn't know that it wasn't a good idea to keep goby's and blenny's in the same tank. I suppose I could take him back to the pet store and get something else.
I guess I should've done a lil more research.
