I don't know if I would be so concerned about the silly water to sand ratio, when it's really the 9 to 1 ratio for the greyhound side that seems awfully low considering the tank size!

werkin' on it. it was an experiment that ran afoul. I was tying to import a .doc WERD file into Photoshop but it failed miserably. Gotta love Microsquish! I think I can get Visio into jpeg. I have done it before but I have O2K3 and I am pretty sure Mr. Gates doesn't want me to do that anymore. I will consult with him and get back to you.

same tank, DSB, Skimmer, etc. but I am working on an idea I forced into Mikey's head about making a DSB work properly. I am planning on using a VERY slow reverse flow possibly with alcohol. Definately with alcohol while viewing.

Debacle, I see your flow set-up in those diagrams, but not the piping "in the sand", as you say. Are you going to use a plenum at the bottom for drainage, and another one or something else, higher up for the "feeding"?
