I would love some advice about future LED lighting for my reef. I have read some but am so confused I have had to take a break. I think I know less now then before I started

I have a 125 gallon tank 72 x 18 x 20. Its mostly softies and LPS but I have a few hardy SPS and would like more down the road. I like the look of the 14K lighting and would like a visual in that area.

That's about as far as I have got. I have no idea if I need 1, 2, or 3 units over my tank or if 1 watt or 3 watt LED's are the way to go. Basically I'm starting from scratch. And of course cost is a big issue as well.

Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

BTW I will be building the pedestal, and was asked to make it kinda short so you dont get hurt TO bad when you fall off. HE HEE

Eric, bottom line is your a stand up guy, and this needs to be said.

As far as the pain meds go, I am now to the point to where I am almost completely free of having to take them. That was the whole purpose of having this surgery. I didn't want to have to take them for the duration of my life. I worked directly with a Pain Management Specialist and It actually took jumping thru a lot of hoops to get this surgery approved by the insurance companies. My age played a huge factor in this. Being only 38, and having 6 prior surgeries that had not netted the results, they decided full replacement was the only option left. After 2 months and several rejections of the proposal, My Surgeon was able to Code this a certain way so the insurance company FINALLY agreed to the surgery. Oh the politics involved in medicine.

Anyway, bottom line is that Life is very short, and we need to treat every day as if it could be our last. Be completely honest with yourself.Never go to bed angry and always express your love!!!!

Derbird - I would go with 3 18 inch heat sinks and 3 watt LEDs. That would be more than enough light for your current setup and any future plans

Derbird, you are in the same situation I was. I would suggest reading all of the threads regarding the Led DIY. Maybe start your own thread and ask for help. Everyone has been very eager to offer their help and suggestions to me, and I know they will do the same for you. I know I will be learning so much from my personal build and will then use what I have learned to try to help others. That's really what this site is truly about, Helping others!!

When I get closer to making them I'll post up a thread. I am always open to help, in a hobby like this we can always learn more. Part of the reason I like it.

good morning everyone, this is a subject I love to talk about I am just going to show you what I have done so for on the back section of the light hood of myRSM 650 so for I have already done the front with LEDs in the middle metal halide and now we're doing the rear. this is a new type of LED were using and they look pretty bright so let me send you a photograph to show what I'm doing.Phil

I love those inventronics LEDs. Built in reference voltage is awesome.
