Hey Guys..
Hes the run down. My 44 gallon is going to be turned into a reef in a few weeks. I am planning my sump as we speak. I plan on buying an overflow box from Dr Foster and Smith. Its going to overflow down PVC or a hose, and into the sump. The water will then be skimmed, and then it will go through a series of baffles to prevent air bubbles. The last baffle will lead to the fuge area. The next baffle is where the heater and return pump will be kept. I plan on getting a 300gph Overflow, so the pump will be a 296GPH Quiet One. The water will then be brought up to the main tank.
My problem is.. The 44 gallon is so akward, I wont be able to keep anything bigger than a 10 gallon under the tank. I want to have atleast a 20 gallon - if not a 29 gallon for my sump. I will have to keep the sump on the bottom, to the left or right of the main tank. I am thinking about building a chair that covers the sump so it doesnt look like an eye sore. I will be able to take the top of the chair off so I can work under there.
Now, the question is.. Will the water be able to travel through the elbows or be able to travel the length of the piping?
Here are 2 rough sketches.
This shows the rear of the tank. The piping will be along the wall if that helps explain it any better.
The second pic is just a rough sketch of the sump. I forget to add a heater. It will probably be in the return chamber.
So would this work?
Thanks for the info
