devils hand ailing-or dead

Hi all.

I have a question for all of you who know. How do I tell if my Devils Hand is dead or just sick? I Eveything was just fine about five days ago when I did a 10% routine water change, then later that night I noticed that he changed color from a nice tan to a pale greenish blue and all of his polyps closed up and he started shrinking slightly. prior to this water change he was growing rapidly and even attatched himself to another rock , as he was outgrowing his old one. He is not deflated at the base but his figers are. How do I Know? Need help.

Hi all.
I need some input please, my Devils Hand is either sick or dead I'm not sure but it dosnt look good. I did a routine water change app. five days ago and thats when he started to look sick he changed color from a nice healthy tan to a greenish blue and deflated somewhat. prior to this change he was growing rapidly and even outgrew the rock he was attached to and attatched to another. His figers are deflated quite alot but his base is not. All of my other corals are doing just fine and water is just right. He is the only one distressed. There are no marks on him anywhere. How do I know if hes dead or alive? Pleases help. Thanks

Thad.

hes probably fine, leathers get upset with a change in parameters. its not unusual for them to do this. be prepared for a shed when he opens up. if the shed falls on other critters it will harm them due to it being toxic. if your water is fine, he should be too.

My guess is that when you did a water change another coral might of stressed and released a defense the Devils Hand did not take well to. What other corals do you have next to the Devils hand?

Thanks wit, that makes me feel better. What is this shed though?I did move him to a place with more flow and away from everything kind of an exile. Thanks again.

I have sent him to exile in a far corner of the tank all by himself with more water flow we will see what happens. Thanks for the reply, and I'll let you know what happens.

Thad.
