OK, I'll admit that there's still some child in most of us - we even continue to collect new bigger and better (and costlier) toys as we grow. But we're going to be spending 5 days in the greater LA(?) area, staying with family and visiting such institutions as the land of the $10 burger (Disneyland) and the Getty Museum. Does anyone know of any places of REAL interest around that town? Retailers, manufacturers, importers, wholesalers ( I could probabaly talk my way in), fraggers?? - someone with similiar interests with this new child of the reef. Now I'm begging - I can only take so many trips down Splash Mountain !!

LOL! Hurry up kids....I need to go get some frags!

Great question!!! I am heading down to LA LA Land in about two weeks and was wanting to check out some places as well. I know prices tend to be cheaper down there as well.

I'll be down there in May too. If you end up getting livestock, how do you plan on getting it back here? Ship it to yourself? Can you take stuff on a plane?

I had planned on just carrying it on. Not aware of any rules against that. I guess if I had to, I could have it packed to go in with luggage... YIKES!!!

Good question. I'll have to look into that more. I wouldn't think it would be harmful. Perhaps they would just do a visual inspection if they knew what it was.

I am sure someone on here has some experience with this and can advise.

Very good question. I heard last year people had trouble taking livestock on a plane after macna. Not sure, but it may depend on the airline. Unless you have heat packs, it may get pretty cold in baggage, not to mention the way baggage is handled.

MACNA is the Marine Aquarium Conference of North America, and I heard some people after the conference had trouble getting the livestock they purchased home.

Most wholesalers require a business license to get inside, and there are a ton of them in LA.........just read the ads in FAMA, or look in the yellow pages while down there or search the web phone listings.

Jeffs Exotic is a retailer close to the airport, and ERI is a wholesaler I've been too and purchased from.

Styrofoam lined boxes are standard shipping for air-freight, or you can check it or carry it aboard fine too.

How do you think all the other critters "magically" show up at the LFS? Standard air-freight!
