My mind's always ticking so I figured, why not entertain it a bit! I had that 24gal Aquapod just sitting out back doing nothing so I figured while I continue to plan out my next tank (the one I want to take my time with to do right) I'll probably mess around with this aquapod and see what else can be done with it to pass the time. Not sure what I will do with it yet...Maybe try drill it if it isn't tempered or something, but I thought I'd throw up some pics of what the tank looks like after I took a razor to it. Looks just like a regular all glass tank. That black backround that blocks part of the sides and the back (if anyone is wondering) is nothing but a sticker. I may set it up as just a FOWLR to have something to look at and make it a quarentine later for the big tank I will eventually setup, but not too sure yet. We'll see what happens, but figured I'd show you guys what the tank looks like so far stripped:)

Here's the pvc board bottom and the backwall as well as part of the original frame for the old backwall totally removed

Here's all the silicone I removed!

I started to peel off that black backing off of the sides and the back to give more viewing area

Here's the whole thing removed

And here's what the tank looks like all bare...

Some people just can't leave well enough alone:lol:
Seriously though, if you find out about the glass it will surely help many. Thanks for always questioning the "norm".

lol !! someone miss his tank .... .

LOL!!! Yeah...Being on RF all the time doesn't help either looking at all the tanks especially with the water being too cold to get my "fix" in the ocean! May do just a FOWL with it. We'll see.:)

LOL! Thanks Todd! I like to be a bit different:p I'll find out for you guys soon if it can be drilled.:)

Humm, no wonder the back felt like plastic to me, LOL!
The back glass being separate may not be tempered, why would they temper that part, so you may drill it successfully IMO but calling them would be safe!

Yeah...That backwall is just siliconed in there. The tank is made of just 3 pieces of glass...The bottom, the back, and the front that curves all the way around to the back. If it is tempered, I could just remove that back glass and silicone in a new one that can be drilled, but I'm trying to find a way to make this tank useful as it is as having to put in a new back doesn't make sense. If it can't be drilled, I have otherways of gtetting water to the sump:D We'll see how it goes:)

Is the edge of the front pane a different color than the back like green vs clear?

Don

Hmmm...Haven't really noticed Don. I'll have to check that when I get back home. I also wrote Current USA last night so we'll see if they get back to me:)

LOL!!! Well, just got word from Current USA and the tank in not tempered at all which means you can drill anywhere:D

ROFL!!! I see maybe 5 holes going in this thing. One in the bottom for a drain to the sump and 4 in the back for a closed loop...:D

The tank is by my friends glass shop now and I may get it back this evening so I may have some pics to share later. I'll keep you guys posted:)
