distance between agressive species

how much space should there be between agressive corals. I have brain coral 3 inches away from red mushroom coral. is that too little of space?
 
Couldn't say for sure as I've never kept the two together, but just wanted to welcome you to the forum...I'm sure the others will chime in soon. Good luck!:D
 
Most likely, 3" is sufficient but the way to be sure is with a flashlight late at night. Ensure sweeper tentacles are not close to another animal. Be that as it may, mushrooms are pretty tough.
 
I've seen Closed Brain Corals with 10"-12" sweeper tentacles. As was mentioned above, check them at night to see the sweepers. Also keep in mind that if certain corals sense competition or a need to be aggressive, they have the ability to lengthen their sweepers, produce more sweeper tentacles and to turn any of their feeding tentacles into sweeper tentacles.
