I have a 45lb bag of carbon I have been using inefficiently according to the documentation in our library on carbon use. To date I have been using carbon mostly passively in the sump and also through a Fluval 304. The fluval is probably doing the bulk of the good work despite massive carbon bags being used passively :)

Anyway I though up this idea and drafted this design in literally ten minutes, but I thought I would share.

Objective: To actively run carbon without sump modification
Water feed: Water will be gravity fed by the display drains to the sump
The body of the filter would be 2 or 3" pipe

Let me know what you think or what questions you have. On my system should this idea be built-out I would run it for 24hrs once monthly.

Jay thier is a simplier way, you can get a bag holder that just screws to your drain line pvc.
