If you want a diy needle wheel. This is it. I stuck one in a gen-x 6000 with a 3/4" venturi with 3/8 air line. This thing made so so many superfine bubbles, more compared to a becket. I'll go to work on this after my new tank is up.

I was very surprised looking at the needle wheel that comes with the Euroreef skimmers and wondered why we couldn't use the buffing pads commonly used on pneumatic die grinders fitted with the roloc pads. Great for buffing steel and aluminum as well as retrofitting your sedra pump and DIY protein skimmer.
Euro-Reef said:All those little pins protruding from the base of the impeller whip the air water mixture that is taken in by the pump. This whipping action effectively shreds the air into tiny little bubbles which are ideal for attracting organics.

To save a little money since they are so expensive from Snap On (used to be mechanic), you can also get them at most NAPA auto parts for a fraction of the price. I know for sure that all of the Kitsap Cty stores can get them and they are supplied from Seattle, so the Seattle stores should also carry them. My only concern is that as the RPMs increase, they do no retain their shape and may be a problem with the volute on.
Good luck
