I started a 3 gallon reef tank about 3 months ago. The biggest apprehension I had was how to skim it. There is really nothing out there for my setup. I basically modified a 3 gallon glass aquarium (as JBJ Picotope to be exact) to include a small sump along the back. Similar in design to all the Nanos out there (I have a Aquapod 24 myself).

Since nothing was out there I build my own. It works great, actually I think is skims better that the Saphirre skimmer I have on my Aquapod 24. People have approached me to build and sell them, but this is way too much of a hassle. The next best thing, post the instructions on the web for free!

So that is what I did, see http://www.63alfred.com/picoskimmer

That's very cool. Some suggestions: I would build the skimmer one more time being careful to make strait cuts and keep the skimmer as clean and shiny as possible. You spent so much time making all the information available to every one, show them the best possible result! Second, when I watched the video I was waiting for the camera to move overhead to show how much foam/skimmate was being produced... All in all, great job. Excellent of you to take the time to help the hobby along!
