Do fish just die for no reason suddenly? Meaning they are in our aquarium for years and years, no disease, well fed, etc. Then one day they die right in front of you for no apparent reason. Nothing unusual about anything leading up to it, no changes in water chemistry, no recent tank maintenance, all other fish are fine, etc. Just one fish die right in front of your eyes. Why would this happen? Do they have heart attacks or something like humans? I mean if it was a nutritional deficiency or some disease you would see symptoms of some sort right? So what if nothing is out of the ordinary happened and fish was apparently very healthy for years?

Do they have heart attacks or something like humans?

lol

i dont know but im sure it could happen i mean i guess it depends on how much cholestrol are in the foods your feeding them, try fruits and veggys:lol:

just kidding

i know fish in the salt water world have small bladders or kidneys or something like that and there organs work harder i believe to filter the salt and carry there normal filtering funtions also so maybe a fish can be born with a genetic defect that would probably have to be traced back to its parents

im sure the average aquartist could research this with breedable stock if some early deaths or witnessed and the parents or some kind of off spring is kept track of or the parents are kept in check

but i guess this would have to come from fish that were know to die early of age for a unknown reason which would be pretty hard to come by i would think

sorry for your lose if you had one

im not positive on all this stuff just my 2 cents!!

hope this helps!!

i did not have a loss of any of my fish. i read on reefcentral some guys powder blue tang died out of nowhere so i was just asking if anyone here knew anything about something like this happening.

those things are hard to keep alive any way I bet it was ick or lateral line disease or something

Just cause be didnt see if dont mean it wasnt there

It could have been a stress issue also depending on the ta k size and tank mates and how he was captured in the wild can drastically effect a fishs life but if thats the case it usually dont take the fish long to die. Never know

Again my 2 cents

There is always a reason.

A heart attack is a reason. And some do have a heart attack.

How can you tell a fish is healthy? The claim is that the fish is healthy, but how is that verified and known. Hobbyists don't really know their fish is healthy or not.

I've conducted enough postmortems to know there are many 'unhealthy' fish where the hobbyist would swear they were healthy.
