ok, that makes me feel a little more comfortable. it's just a little nerve-racking to pour a chemical in your tank. :) especially when you've been building it for years.

i'm sure it'll be fine.... i've noticed my red bug population jump in the last few weeks so it's good that I am treating now. I am starting to see detrimental effects to the coloration of my one coral.

ok, hour 6 of the treatment just came and went. i'm going to treat for 7 hours before i do a water change and add carbon. i don't know if my eyes are playing tricks on me or what but my acros already look better. polyp extension and all on my one green acro seems back to normal. i also had a ton of red bugs on one of my acros and i don't see a single bug on it now. so far no negative effects on anything in my tank. my hermits and my cleaner shrimp all look fine. fish are active as well as all my corals look great.

i was so nervous about this but now it seems like that was not needed. :) i'll wait a week and see if i need to re-treat or not.

Awesome.. Glad everything is going great... I did my second treatment and think I overdosed a bit as I lost 2 of my cleaners and everything else was fine... I dont think its your Eyes.... My Corals always seemed to look better without the bugs... I think they are inside the coralites eating on the polyps or something and Irritating them some how... All mine look really awesome right now too.. 7hrs is no biggy either.. I went almost 12hrs without a waterchange Just turned on the skimmer and thru in carbon this last time...

James

PS I would Definetly do atleast 1 more treatment... You will more than likely regret it if you dont...

glad to hear that your tank is doing well.

i plan on doing another treatment in 7 - 10 days since it doesn't seem like there is a clear cut life cycle to these damn bugs.

Matt as I stated above I didn't do a water change for 1 week, nothing, just put carbon and poly pads in and I only did one treatment and it has been 2 weeks and nothing. I would not treat again since it has been 2 wks in my tank and nothing. I would think their life cycle can't be longer then that.

it's interesting how there are so many variations of the treatment now. i think i'll do a water change tonight or tomorrow and just put carbon in. i'll re-evaluate in a week to see if i have any new bugs and if i do then i'll treat again and if i don't see any then i'll re-evaluate again in 10 days and then again in 2 weeks. after 2 weeks if we don't see any bugs then i'd say the life cycle is over for them.

Sounds good Matt My reasoning was I didn't see any bad effects going on when I treated so I thought I would try leaving it in and letting the carbon remove it slowly and maybe that would help with this life cycle thing, as I waited a week to do a water change and like you said its been 2 weeks and nothing. I thought it was worth a try to have to keep from doing it again, seems to have worked although I don't know if I had done a water change if it would have made a difference.

yeah, that is one way to do it....especially since you've had great results.

i did a 20 gallon water change and added quite a bit of carbon after about 9 hours of leaving the interceptor in. so far everything looks fine. *crossing fingers*

guess we'll see if the red bugs return.... hopefully not.

so far the process has been quite painless. *knocking on wood*

Just a Question for those Who just Treated... Hows everything look.. Getting better color And polyp Extention? I have finished with my Treatments again LOL Everything looks wonderfull... Corals and everything is still doing Awesome..

so far everything in my tank is great. my acros are starting to color up and polyp extension is back to normal. i'm glad i did it....

I had them and got them courtsey of a frag from one of the online dealers several months back who has since started to treat thier tanks with Interceptor.

It affected a number of my corals. I wasnt able to get interceptor so I had to use Sea Chems reef dip at elevated levels to rid myself of the critters. I lost 1 of 8 acros. I QT these for a couple of months before adding back to my tanks. I havent seen them since. Eveything I get is dipped in a solution of this and QT for about 3-4 weeks before going in any of my tanks.

I haven't had any signs of them return after the treatment, my acros are back to the way they used to look, great color and polyp extension and I added a order of bugs from Essential Live Foods just to reseed the tank for the Mandarin.

I got redbugs and haven't noticed any ill effects to the corals. They are tiny, but when you look at them close up, they are pretty ugly. :p :p :p
