Oops. So, I am pretty tired today, and went to give my corals their first coral food... it said on the little jar of Ocean Nutrition Nano Reef Coral Food (powder) to give one spoonful for 30 gallons. I put a half a teaspoonful, because a whole one just seemed way too much.

Then I went to throw the little box away and found the little tiny measure spoon... I think the got 4-6 times as much as they should have.

Question is, will it be okay as long as I don't feed anybody for a couple days, or do I need to take action?

Thank you.

Clary

29gallons
some chaeto
over the tank filtration with aragonite and fresh charcoal
about 29 pounds of live rock
a bunch of small and medium corals
1 azure damsel
1 cleaner shrimp
about 6 little hermits
about 10 snails
some serpent stars

How long has the tank been up and running? How long have you had the corals for? What were/are the water parameters?

Running since beginning of June, started with live sand, live aragonite, a bit of live rock and some live water. Gradually added rock, creatures, and a few corals, everything very stable and happy. Last Wednesday moved the domino damsel out and added about 8 nice coral pieces including a large chunk of Xenia. Everything looked good. This past Saturday stayed up 'till 1:30am adding 20 pounds of live rock and another 8-10 small-medium corals. Didn't feed anyone on Saturday or Sunday because moving the rock stirred up plenty of detritus. Added the carbon then too, and cleaned the pre-filter. Still have a small azure damsel, scooter blenny and cleaner shrimp. All the corals perked up great, so I thought they deserved some food...

My dip-the-stick test says now:
Nitrate - 20ppm - it's always been about 10 in the past.
Nitrite - 0

Ammonia tested nonexistent last week, I'm waiting the five minutes now, but no color so far. Will let you know if it shows any.

Calcium is about 370 - I've been supplementing to gradually raise.
Magnesium is about 1340 - also raising that
Alkalinity has been 10-11
PH has been about 8.2

Temperature - 76 degrees

Thanks :)

Yeah, you should be fine. We've had a few similair mishaps ourselves, they should all pull through, just do an extra water change or two to keep the parameters in line.

...would totally do that, if I had a skimmer ;) I was drooling over your modded one the other day, but I really need to try to barter for one. May be getting one this weekend, if things work out. At least I can change the carbon out :)

Thanks! :)
