After doing very little research I just decided to go with at least one maybe two spot lights. These are the the bulbs suggested on Melev's web site. The main reason for choosing these is they are not hot and they seem to work fine based on is review. Here is the start I got on the fixture which is a $8outdoor fllod light fixture from Lowes. Should look cool when I get it all done.

Nice wood turning! That should work fine!

Should look nice and do the job, I'm not to concerned about crazy growth just moderate would be fine with me. I think it will work fine and can be integrated to mount to the same box that the ranco i going to go in, we'll see what happens.

To me If that is your goal, & power consumption on the list of things to think about, these should work fine & with several options as far as lamps go. I still think you can go with the compact fluorescents (flood types) & get good growth but you have to find the right lamps.

I think thats what these are that Melev has on his site. They look like a regular flood but on the outside. On the inside they have that curly light with a built in reflector. I saw some at lowes last night but there was no kelvin rating so I just figured I'd order what he suggest over the internet. I think they are 5100K.

Sweet. This whole tank is realy going to "take it to the next level". This IS for the over flowing tank right?
