got this hammer from a buddy who was less than careful when bagging it. he broke one or two of the bone plates out of the skeleton dropping it in the bag with no water. it was dying from day one and only lasted till day four. didnt take it out of the tank cuz the skeloton looks cool and the last of the tissues stuck to the outside seemed to make my hermits happy. i sat in the same spot until i got a ricordia that wanted the realestate. i pulled the "dead" hammer and set it aside then about 5 min later i saw some movement way down by the foot of the hammer skeleton. apon closer inspection i found 3 very small but very alive heads. thank god i didnt throw the skeleton in my sump like i intended.

Hammers are pretty resilient like that. I got one home from the LFS and it had a broken skeleton on one of the heads. I super glued it together and it has been doing great for the last couple of months, even sprouting some new heads.
