i have a 100 gal acrylic tank and considering drilling for a closed loop. My question is I need to drill for a 2" bulkhead about halfway down in the center. Can I safely do this without completely draining the whole tank? I'd like to only drain to below the level of drilling. Any thoughts?

Will drilling a partially full tank put too much stress on the hole while drilling?

I don't ant it to crack.

I would drain as much as you can, and drill slow with a nice and sharp hole saw. Don't worry about the shavings as they float, and you can scoop them out with the ole fish net trick! Take a few pics and have some fun.
