what kind of bit do you use to drill through your LR? was thinking of using the 1/2" acrylic rods to stabilize my LR.

thanks,

I have used a series of masonry bits. Starting at 1/4", and then increasing by about 1/8" each time. I set the rock on a stack of foam packing material (for when the bit goes through), and use a hammer-drill.

Expect some breakage.

are 1/2" rods big enough? what sizes did you use?

I actually use 1/2" CPVC pipe. This is a bit over 3/4" diameter. The reason I use that is because I use the CPVC fittings to build a structure to support under the base rock. Also, I have used some of the CPVC pipes for water flow (a flexible pipe connects to a powerhead behind some of the rockwork, and a T sticks out between some of the rocks for flow).
