dont know why but my derasa is dead or close to it last couple of days it has not opened today i gently opened it up and theres not a lot left ,my question is pull it out or let the scavengers have at it? water seems to be fine no ammonia spike, it was about 5-6 inches any suggestions?

I'd also recommend pulling it. If a little over feeding can pollute a tank, think how much pollution a rotting clam can produce. You aren't seeing any ammonia spikes yet because it hasn't started to deteriorate. Get it out of there, do a couple large water changes and I'd also recommend running carbon.

Sort of. Clams dont just fall over dead like we would of a heart attack. They rot as they are dieing and are quite gross in the process. It may take weeks during this time they may look a little sluggish but we dont see the signs because they are opening and closing. The bacteria in the tank is also increasing and keeping up with the nasty clam so we dont see the spikes.
