Ok most of us know how horrible it is to expierience a Disaster in our hobby. How nice would it have been to have a list of fellow hobbiests that were willing to come help out?

I will go ahead and volunteer to "head" up this group and create a list of people who are interested.

one Caution before you volunteer....

Please only volunteer if you are fully willing and able to help out others in an emergency.

anyone have any comments or suggestions?

A list or contract with person available when you are on vacation, A Tank Buddy or a back up. Choose a person that you trust. When you are on vacation allow a family member to feed your fish and look at tank. Have a emergency number for back up incase things are a stray. Maybe introduce the Tank Buddy to Family member before going on trip so there is a comfort level established. Choose someone close to you and readily available..
Please let the person know if something goes wrong or break in, the person will probably be checked out by local law enforcement. This rarely happens but it is sometimes a plus to be honest and forward about this.

I'd be willing to help out when available. I travel a lot for work but if I'm around I'd more than willing to lend a help hand to a fellow reefer.

Great idea! i have found through my own experiences that most people on this forum are wiling to lend a hand when needed even if it means a 20 min. drive. sometimes all you need to do is say HELP! i know i could use a team to come work a few bugs out of my system, no emergency though

ok, anyone interested PM me with your name, Phone #'s and city, and I will start making a master list. This will be somthing you should print out for a hard copy in case of power outage. also as new people join and numbers change, a new list should be sent out...

You can put me down. I don't have a generator, but I do have lots of extra equipment and a cool head.

Susie :)

this was suggested about 6 months ago and i thought it was a good idea. i dont know if it was you that suggested it previously but i have said then and again now that you can put me on the list.

Also a good idea maybe to have emergency housing around the Sound. A reefer close to me sprung a leak and I housed his corals and fish in my QT until he could get a new tank.

That would definatly qualify as an Emergency. and many people that will be part of ERRT will be able to provide houseing for Livestock

Thanks Randy for getting this all set up. With Winter on it's way, this will be a big help to many.

Please put me on your list to help out. I do have a backup generator installed on the house so can keep tanks running here when the power is out.

Vicki

No backup genset yet here, but I am working on it! Definitely put me on the list for emergency housing in Kitsap. I don't have much "extra" equipment but do have a stand-by Sequence 4200, a stand-by 1000W M47 MH ballast, small pumps, a 50g Rubbermaid, etc. I also have a decent workshop to do DIY projects and repairs....and a LOT of plumbing parts! :D

I can remimber when my power went out years back. and I was out of town too!! I drove so fast to get home and borrowed a generator to keep my tank alive. ever since I have had a generator that has never been used :p

ERRT now has 7 members.....and looking for more....

Even if you want to help, but are limited on the hours that you want to get phone calls. I will list comments by everyones name and number, so everyone knows when you are available.

Count me in. I have a generator and usually a few cycled quarantine tanks running, spare heaters, etc. And I can dance.

Usually the phone is off at night, but I don't normally go to sleep until after 12am.

Maybe we can also come up with Extreme Makeover: Reef Edition
