Setting up another tank to store my liverock from a tank downgrade and decided why not grow some softies on it with a spare set of PC lights I have laying around. Its been a few years since ive done my coral research and wanted to know which corals will spread rapidly under PC lighting. I can remember the following:

Xenia, Green Star Polyp, and Shrooms.

Can you list a few others I can try.

Anthelia, related to xenia; you could probably do zoas if you had em higher up, check into a toadstool, or a leather, or gorgonians, they are filter feeders and so don't need much light. Check out wet web media, they have huge listing of every kind of coral and their reqmt's.

I forgot about Kenya tree's, i actually have them and those buggers sprout all over randomly.

Nice suggestions Jag, im headed of to WWM now!

JIDDY!!! WTF is up dude??
havent seen you around here in a while... :) glad to see your still reefing, bro..
alot of lps will grow great under pc's too... acans, micros, frogspawn and hammers, plates, etc... and for softies, dont for get the ricordea and paly's... :)

It has been along time, i just wanted you to catch up in post, lol. Thats crazy we joined at the same time. Ill def look into acans and paly's. I never did my PC research so im playing catchup.

If you had to design a frag tank for coral grow-out, what do you consider the ideal depth to be for PC? I was thinking a little deeper and have a step-up system for varied height

i'd say 12-18" max for pc bulbs...and make sure you get the current sunpaq bulbs, they are like almost like twice the brightness as say coralife brand bulbs, they use better phosphors i guess...

Skimer- I was thinkining 12", but why not 18" if its a custom built. I can always order another one and just make that a show tank, lol.

Tike- Well in your defense, we were here a month sooner than you.... lol

HereFishy- I love leathers myself, but they always are super happy at first and then close up on me....
