Guy's be prepared for it. I work in the medical field, we have just been put on level 1 alert for power failures due to flooded sub stations. 3 land slides by our house this morning.

crap!

so, would a regular gas generator be enough to power the whole tank? It'd probalby just be enough to power a heater and a pump right?

I know we were talking about an Emergency Fish Response Team of some sort earlier, but I doubt we have enough generators to share with everyone..  that said, can I be first on the EFRT list if the power goes out

most large generators at home depot would work. I have a natural gas one with an auto gentrac system. When the power goes out the generator comes on instantly.

I sent out a list of numbers to everyone who showed interest in the ERRT program...

I know the last time power went out with my 72g, I ran dual 175mh and all equipment plus my fridge on my small generator...

Last night, my power outage stroke my area for 1 hour. Scared to death that the temp was going down fast. I put my tank in the garage.

It would be good if we have some sort of Emergency Fish Response Team equipments to borrow. :)

The Group I have been trying to form (ERRT) is basicly local reefers that are willing to help a fellow reefer out in emergencies. There are alot of ways for people to help someone out. So far only 7 people have stepped up to offer their assistance for others in emergencies.

ok is that suppose to be Everett or Evereet is another area, i always get lost :p.
I'm suppose to be moving up to Everett pretty soon, i told the husband that the first thing we're getting is a generator :p.

When your power goes out, put the tank in a warmer place:D

On a more serious note, can buy a 12 volt inverter that hooks up to a car battery. Puts out 110 volt at enough amperage to run a small heater and small pump for a loooooong time. When the battery wears down, recharge by running the car. Less exercize than running the dog and less fun, but one does what they have to.

I used to do this every year until got a generator. Since then, no power outages. Reverse murphy's law.

I bet I can't carry a ~65gl full tank to the warmer place. :D

Your solution would be good. One generic question though. If I bought a generator, how would I connect to the electrical system so the whole house can benefit? Would I call a certified Elect Technician?

Thanks

yeah, if you wanted a generator to be connected directly to your house in case of an outage, you should have a certified electrition do it. Unless you feel comfortable working with electricity...

I have a generator that I no longer need because I put a new one directly to the main natural gal supply. It's an 120 v 18.75 amp coleman, hardly used. PM me and make an offer if interested.
