I really want to add a bigger sump and refugium to my system. However, I've very limited on space. My tank is next to an outside wall of my house. There is space on the other side (outside the house). So, I'm considering building some kind of enclosure for a sump that will be outside the house. I would drill a hole through the wall to plumb it to the tank. It sounds like a good idea, so long as I properly insulated it and water proof it.

Has anyone else tried something like this? Did it turn out well (or not :()? Have any sage advice to offer for an undertaking like this?

You are going to get alot of heating from it in the summer and alot of cooling from it in the winter, even if you insulate it.

check out trido's 210 build thread. He's doing the exact same thing. He even started construction on it already.

no different than putting a sump, etc in a garage and there are tons of people that do that... i say go for it
