I have literally 100's of tiny tiny feather dusters growing on my glass, pumps and rock. Are they ok? Can I let them grow then try to give them away?

I've had to scrap them off the front viewing pane.

kewl dood, yes they are ok to have , in fact it's always nice having them.
i wouldn't give them away dood, i think they'd do fine in your tank unless you add a wrass :p , my wrass ate them all i believe, i used to have tons of them in one rock and as soon as i added my 6 line, they were gone .

Thanks Gabby. Not sure I am going to keep them all. But they seem to have attached themselves to a nice little rock, that I will likely keep for sure. I won't be having anything else but clowns and a couple shrimp in the tank anyway. This tank is too small for anything more.

Detri, there are a lot of tiny dusters out there. Some are very short lived. There is one species in my tank that makes a small white tube maybe only 1/32" in diameter when the tube reaches about 1-2 inches long the duster dies. Of course there are hundreds on the rock so the population stays. Ive also got some dusters in brown tubes that have been in my tank for close to a year. Dusters are kinda cool little critters they eat detritis that is floating in the tank, so i suppose they have a good purpose as tank cleaners.

Depends on the duster! I have the same as what you folks have described in my display tank but my sump is a different story. I got some brillo pad algae from a fried who also brought some feather dusters and said they should only go in the sump. So I said cool I'll take some. I put them in (about 10-15) and about three months later they rule the sump. They are everywhere, on every rock, algae, wall, and even ended up inside the skimmer! These guys are in brown soft tubes with pink heads on them. They will build their tubes until they find a nice place to catch food in the current. I have one that the tube is almost nine inches long! Like my friend said they belong in the sump and there they will stay. I can't imagine how they would multiply in the main tank.
