How many times a day do you feed your fish? I have one clown fish! Also what do shrimp eat. I am afraid they are not eating the dry food. Do they eat whatever they find?

When I have fish, I feed them once a day in the evenings. I prefer to do it this way because they don't waste as much food and are usually eager and ready this way. This method seems to work best for me as the fish are always healthy (I can't ever remember having a sick fish). As for shrimps, I guess it depends on which one. My coral bandit shrimp ate whatever went ino the tank. He'd even eat shrimp pellets (LOL).

to be honest I only feed every other day. My fish ares still fat and happy...I think they find plenty to snack on now just in the tank........I never have fed my shrimp...it just scavenges

Once a day here too. They pick at the rock and sand through the day, apparently nibbling on something. In a tank that's been setup a while, and especially in bigger tanks, shrimp normally don't need to be fed. If they're not getting enough you can try offering them thawed fish or similar frozen food.

I feed once a day, but only because my Anthias needs to be fed that often. As for my shrimp - if a piece of food happens to make it to the bottom, then they are quick to pick it up. Otherwise, they're on their own.

dood thanks for starting this thread :D .
ok last night i was talking to Elmo but he kept being on and off so we couldn't finish what he was gonna say.
i feed my fishes frosen formula 1 and 2 once everyday, what i do is i cut a little piece and then i soak it and dump it in the tank, the fishes go nuts about it :D.
am i feeding the right stuff or should i go into flakes next time :p like formula 1 flakes hehe.

I feed Formula One and Two flakes as a staple; then various frozen foods every few days. The drawback to frozen foods is that they're packed in phosphates, so when you dump the water in you're also dumping phosphates in. It's better to dip the food out of the container without getting any of the water in the tank.

got it dood.
from now on i'm gonna start feeding them without dumpign the water in the tank :D.
and i guess i'm gonna stop feeding the frozen stuff that often hehe.
Thanks dood

I also use formula 1 and 2. I think they are one of the best when it comes to flake food (i.e IMO) I've fed it to my fish in my old saltwater setup, I've fed it to my discus when I went fresh, and I'm going to feed it to my fish when I add them hopefully this weekend. I use to use the frozen stuff but too much gets lost in the tank, and also it pollutes the water too much for me even if you wash it out good. Where it is so soft from being soaked in water etc I find that when you put it into the water you get a cloud which is mostly the water and food thawed out and sometimes blood (if it is blood worms) This cloud, is basically a waste, as the fish can't eat it, and in seconds it mixes up in your water which usually accounts to the breakdown of water quality. I've watched a friend of mine feed his fish frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms and you couldn't hardly see the fish for a few seconds as a cloud covered everything. So IMO, if you aren't going to thaw the stuff out good and let some of the water in it dry out so that you can feed the tank with just the solid stuff, then you are only looking for trouble.

ok i thaw one cube and i leave the rest frozen, then i just cut a little piece every day i put it in a little bit of ro/di water and then dump it.
hmm i guess that's why my cyano comes and goes lol :p

I also feed formula 1 but in the pellet form, my clowns love to chase after it in the water column. And I feed a half a cube of frozen mysis every 3 or 4 days

I feed my fish 2-3 times a day. A lot of people avoid that.....but I swear by it ;)
