What is the difference between the Ushio 20k Aqualite and Colorlite Bulb (150w)

Curious if RO/DI stored in say a 50+ gallon container will eventually get old? Will it need aeration, flow, and a dark space if it takes months to go through? Or should it not be stored in high amounts at all?

Is there such a phosphate/nitrate removing media that you don't have to replace as often, like every couple months?

Can you fill and use a media reactor to only as much as needed, or does it need to be full while in use?

Thanks.

Only 1-2 answers i can answer.
The Reactor can be filled to whatever you want it to be. You can Mix with Carbon and a Phosphate remover. The Carbon is gonna be worthless before the Phosphate remover is Useless.Unless your Phospahtes are skyhigh. You can fill it 1/2 or 1/4 Carbon is probably not worth filling completely as it is useless pretty quick 1-2 weeks Max.
If your Phosphates are low Most Phosphate removers will pull out to a point and then there worthless as well. If your Phosphates are High running a Remover is not gonna last very long and some are known to leach the Phosphates back into the System if not changed 1-2 times a Month. Also depends on the size of the System, Feeding, BioLoad.

I store Water in Large amounts and usually check it once in awhile. As long as the Container is cleaned out before you fill it up and you dont leave the Top open unless filling buckets. I have never had any problems. There might be others that have different experiences on this one.

Slime will develop in th RO/DO storage tank, so you need to clean it after so long, testing it as mentioned is a good call.
Two little fishes makes a small media reactor, anything that small works well on a tank your size, probably up to a 100g tank! It i s easier to keep the two medias separated because as mentioned but IMO carbon soaks up much quicker than most think.

as for the bulbs,
EVERY brand of bulb burns a little different.
some are darker some are more blue, some more white some more yellow.
the ballast has some to do with it also..

Thanks guys. Which bulb would you guys recommend to get the most blue out of less than 100$ With a coralvue or icecap ballast. Is there any actual difference between those two bulbs though?

I was planning on getting two of those small reactors. Along with a vortech mp10 new. How often would you estimate cleaning the storage unit?

What tests would you do on old RO/DI water?

(I always keep 30 gallons of RODI on-hand, never thought to test it... but I guess I probably clean the barrel at least 2-3 times/year.)
