Finicky tank owner needs advice

I am an avid owner of reef tanks myself. However, I am helping a guy set up a, as of now, a fish only tank. Here is the problem though. He wants pretty much nothing as far as pumps or tubes etc. Exposed. I have convinced him that drilling and runnining the drain tube through his wall and back around to the sump. My problem is going to be water circulation. The tank is a 55 gallon glass tank. are there any good recommendations on alternatives to powerheads stuck to the walls. Thats all I have ever done. Just looking for some advice from the pros. Thanks guys.

A closed loop system, but it may require more drilling to make it less exposed

Dont really have many options without using powerheads. You can either drill more holes for a closed loop or get a larger return pump and have multiple returns. Could always use a SQWD or a SEASWIRL for the returns.

Thje smaller the tank, the harder it is to "hide" things.... check this thread and see if you can find the multiple-1" pipes going down the back and across the bottom to the front of the tank.

ummm simple... one tunze or vortec hiding behind the live rock set up in a gyre configuration...done, and done.

That is really hard to do, esp with a smaller tank. I know that Fluval Edge has an aquarium that has very little exposed.
