I heard somewhere that fire shrimp hides all the time in the aquarium, is that true?

I am considering getting a couple but if I can't see them it is rather pointless regardless of how pretty they are :(

I have a cleaner shrimp and he's great, always in view and very bold. Also have a gold coral banded shrimp and he hides all the time.

Thanks a lot.

yea they can be shy, they spend most of the time under or behind rocks foraging for food. They usually do come out and pose every once and awhile

Fire Shrimp Are Wonderful They Don't Care For Bright Light Which Is Why They Hide.they Can Be Trained To Come Out With Hand Feedings. And Will Come Out As You Approach The Tank. I Don't Recommend Them With A Coral Banded Shrimp Fact Most Times C.b. Are Recomended To Be Kept By Them Selves And Not With Other Shrimp.

I have two of them and they only come out when fed, but I have an sps tank so like the others said it is bright and they don't like it.

I have two of them and for months they stayed in the rock for the most part. Lately I have no idea what has gotten into them but they are out all the time. I know one has eggs that it is packing around.

Thanks :) No the fire shrimp will not be in the same tank as the coral banded shrimp. Actually mine is really shy, maybe the gold variety is more docile. It is definitely smaller compare to the regular red and white ones.

Maybe fire shrimp would work afterall, since I am planning a low-medium light tank anyway.

Thanks again

Fire shrimp rule!!!!! I love mine. He/she is very brave. I see it all the time. It hangs out under a bridge of live rock in my tank, and just looks cool. Its almost 3 years old now.
