Anybody use Firefox?

I just downloaded it yesterday as an alternative to Internet Explorer. Seems faster than Internet Explorer.

Anyone who has Firefox, what kind of issues have you run into, I mean what have you found that Firefox doesn't support.

Do you like it?

I've been using Firefox/Firebird for almost a year now. My only issues with it is that I can't put in a local drive in the address bar. I got used to being able to switch from web sites to a file browser just by typing in c:\ into the address. Other than that I am ardent Firefox supporter. With the recent version of Firefox I hated the download manager at first. I've grown to like its ability to pause downloads. I install it on anyones computer that I've had to remove spyware from. Its a nice security measure.

I love it. I've gotten spoiled by being able to run everything in tabs, especially viewing forums. I just load the browser, start at the top and work my way through the sites.

Only issue I've had is lack of spell check support. There is a add-on for a earlier version of Mozilla but it does not work with Firefox and it is buggy - would randomly cause my last version to crash when I ran it, or it would skip words. Spell check should be built in, they say it would cost too much to license a dictionary to do so but I still think it should be.

I love the download manager now, I hated it at first also but I've gotten used to it and have found it handy. With IE on some sites you could only download 2 files at a time without loading another browser session, it's not the case w/ Firefox. I had four 700mb files downloading at once and it was nice to only have one window open showing their status rather than four pop-ups like IE. Also when minimized it shows the total percentage of all files done so have an idea when your bandwidth is going to be free again.

Only site issue I had was with Microsoft.com, you cannot use their download service with Firefox, so when I went to install SP2 I had to go into IE.

So far I think I like it too. It seems less bloated for sure. Loads faster and loads pages faster too.

I had an issue with media player 10 that wouldn't load. Said it was expecting media player 9 ...

I haven't used all of the features mentioned here yet, but will continue to use Firefox I think.

On a sidenote I downloaded Thunderbird Email on my laptop and that too seems like a good product as well :)

Anyone tried Opera? I tried it a couple times and kinda liked it, but I am just lazy so I continue to use IE rather then learn new stuff. Maybe I will try this Firefox, it sounds good.

after reading this thread i decided to download and give it a try. it's awesome! i love the features especially the add ons and themes. i also like the stability of it as well as the tabs item. i still use IE on occassion though.

yeah, they can co-exist on a machine. you can switch back and forth to either.

by the way, you can't uninstall Internet Explorer. You can remove the icon from your desktop but that is about it.

You should try it, there really is nothing to learn other than the extra features, which are pretty intuitive. Using the tabbed windows, changing the themes, etc, all really simple to do if you can physically use Windows you can do it without issue.

I forgot to mention I also like the built in google-bar at the top, that's come in especially handy.
