Hi all,

Tank has been up two weeks. No problems so far.

40-50lbs of live rock.

20lbs of live sand.

10 Turbo Snails.

10 Blue Leg Hermits.

4 Emerald Crabs.

3 Peppermint Shrimp.

Wow - looks great!! Did you have a cycle? What is your lighting and what are your plans with the tank?

very nice!

No Cycle to Speak Of

Not much of a cycle. Saw a little spike in Ammonia and a little nitrate. Even threw in a large frozen shrip to get things going. Shrimp got really rancid and the protein skimmer generated a lot of nice scum.

Started off with RO/DI water.

Added live rock gradually over the past few weeks with the last bit added last Wednesday. Added the live sand on Friday.

Snails and Hermits in on Saturday.

Emeralds and Perppermints added yesterday.

Plan to add a Lawnmower Blennie sometime this week and then Green Chromis after that probably late next week.

Got a star polyp as a hitchiker on a piece of live rock, like the looks of it so may get another batch of that.

Beyond that, I haven't given it much thought.

We'll see how things progress, and go from there.

Thanks for the interest.

Dan

i'd wait on the lawnmower blennie until you get more of an algae growth unless you already do. you can also supplement feed them but mine tends to like to pick at the sand bed and the rocks.

Have to second Mattseattle on waiting with a Lawnmower blenny. Seen a lot of them starve in tanks without adequate food.

Algae

Quite a lot of bright green algae on the sand and on the back wall of the tank. Will hold off a bit on the blennie and see if the crop grows some more. What do you suggest algae be supplemented with? Kelp flakes?

Thanks,

Dan

i lucked out and my lawnmower blenny will eat about anything. i usually feed him spiraluna/kelp flakes but he also eats mysis. when i first got him he was a little thin. i rescued him from Petco in W. Seattle so I had to fatten him up.

My lawnmower eats spiralina flakes and just about whatever else I throw in. He's a pig.

Tanks looking good.

A lawnmower blenny that well eat flake or frozen is the exception. Most require a good supply of good algae not hair or cyno, and well starve without it.

my lawnmower blenny eats anything...loves cyclop-eeze as well as cod eggs and spiralina flake food. he's become really fat.
