I have a 45 gallon (tall) tank that will be saltwater soon. I am only doing fowlr and do not plan on upgrading in the near or distant future (tank size). I have a canister filter and will begin cycling soon. I want to keep some dwarf angelfish, and need some recommendations as which to keep, and if I should stay away from them (if so why?). Also, what other fish could I keep in there.I would rather be understocked than close to overstocked.

i dont think any dwarf angels would be nice in a 45 gallon tall tank. all the dwarfs I have owned all like to zip around and i think the would be frustrated in a small footprint like that. what is it like 20x18 footprint?

I think a Cherub Pygmy Angel would be a great choice.
A 45 gallon would be a perfect sized aquarium , most Cherubs come in around an inch long.
If you are saying Dwarf and not including Pygmy Angels, a small Coral Beauty or a small flame angel would work also.

We have a 46 with a pygmy cherub angel, and he's very happy. In that tank we also have a diamond sifter goby, a lawnmower blenny and a clown goby, and a mandarin dragonet. Oh and a cleaner shrimp. Before we went reef, we had a clown pair and three chromis on there. They do very well in there too and like to stay in a school, which is cute to watch. The thing with the angels is that they become carnivorous as they age, so in a reef tank, they can attack corals and clams at some point. In a fowlr setup that shouldn't be a problem.
I spent a lot of time agonizing over the fish choice for our tanks. I'd recommend going to some of the websites, liveaquaria.com, bluezooaquatics.com, freshmarine.com, reefhotspot.com; and just browse! You'll start to get a good idea of the kinds of things available, their needed tank size, their nutritional needs, etc. You'll find some really neat things out there!! And a LOT that need bigger tanks than our 45's!! : (

Yeah, I have to say my fav. fish is a yellow tang, idk y, probably becaues I cant have it lol. But ya, im content with my tank size and will enjoy my fish thoroughly. My tank is in my room, which is not that big, but will look really good when i get it together.
