i'm looking to find out what cool fish are ok for a ten gallon nano reef. what i like are ocelarise clowns (probly not spelled right), could i have a pair of them in a 10 gl.? what are your thoughts on fish for this tank? thanks

i'll be taking the clarkii clown out.

Yasha and a red striped pistol??? Yasha may be a little big, but they don't maove around much. Tailspot blenny, pretty active. Not sure about the clowns though.

I just looked at my printout of that "suggested fish list" and it said that 2 clownfish are fine in a 10g. That seems right to me to since the clown in my 300 g just hangs around his anemone all the time and the 2 in my nano hardly move around either. I love the clowns. Can't wait to hear how it works out.

IMO, 2 Clownfish are going to end up being way too much fish for a 10 gallon tank. I'd suggest something more along the lines of a 24 or larger, for a pair of Occellaris.

Tailspot Blenny would be awesome.

There's several other "nano" sized fish, but names aren't coming to mind right now. I do know that Barbie, at Aquarium Solutions, usually has several different variety in stock. Might check with her.

I'd go with a shrimp goby and one mid water swimmer like a firefish :D that way you get some ground stuff going on and something in the middle of the water column. The two clown fish would be too much bio-load imo.

ok, the clowns are out. i'll have to look into the one's yall mentioned. if theres any others let me know. i like the idea of the bottom and mid water fish. thanks

If you want to stick to a 10 gallon marine aquarium, then I wouldn't suggest any fish. Anemonefish -- the smallest of the species should be in a tank no less than 29 gallons.

I really wish you would read this post and understand not only the right information, but how much mis-information there is about the space needed by marine fishes. Acquire fishes based not of their current size, but as if they were sexually mature and grown to their usual large size.

Please read this: Fish Stocking Limit – for FO and FOWLR

i know that we are not to look at the fish in its curent size but as full grown. thank you for the good read.

are two clown fish a must how about one an anemone and a bottom fish like a scooter blenny and a cleaner shrimp?

cool deal!

My first saltwater setup was a 10g with two occelaris clowns, they did fine for a couple months but then the female because pretty aggressive towards the male, chasing him around the tank. They went back to being buddy buddy about a week or two after I upgraded to a 29g.

I read a bunch saying they would be fine in a 10g but I wouldn't do it again :-/
