Fish Ideas

Can anyone give me some ideas for a couple of fish for my 16 gallon life cube?

One of my favorite fish...Bicolor Blenny. Finally, I was able to add one to my tank, and he's awesome. Right now he is trying out all different holes, perching himself on the rock and checking us out. We named him Humphrey (yes, I name my fish). They have great personalities, and look too cute for their own good .

Welcome, Glad You Are Here. Like Nikki said Bi-color Bennies are super cool. Yellow headed Jawfish work well in small tanks with sand substrate. Swalisi basslets work well. Magnificent Firefish or purple firefish do well if the tank is covered. Possibly a pistol shrimp, yellow watchman goby combo. If your rock is on the bottom and then you added sand. Fairy wrasse are very cool if your tank is covered. Don't over look the small damsels if they are added all at once, in my experence, the yellow tail blue damsel is not so insane (using Charles Mansion as a reference point) in a small group. How about a pygmy angel? I hope that helps you. Steve

I'm a sucker for the PJ Cardinals, Chalk Basslets, Pygmy Angels (Multi-Barred) Neon Gobies, and clown gobies.

Thanks for all the ideas everyone. I really like the bi-colors, and think it would be a great addition, but was told by a LFS that it would be to big to put in a 16 gallon. I know i can only but 2 or 3 fish in it so i have to be very choosy until i can get my larger tank set up. Would a Coral beauty or flame angle be to big. I am reserving a spot for the bi-color blenny for sure, just need to know what a good partner in crime would be. Thanks again for all your great ideas. You guys rock

Are pigmy angles different then dwarf angles. I also apologize for my spelling, its horrible.

I have a pygmy angel and he is so funny. He gets right infront of the powerhead and flies across the entire tank. He does it over & over. He is quite small, like half the size of a Coral Beauty and maybe even smaller. He's bright blue like a Coral Beauty with yellow.

I believed the yellow tail damsels were kinder but I had to remove them from my daughter's tank as they were attacking everything including my hand when trying to do maintenance. I'd pass. We did have some pretty yellow damsels that were nice. The males have almost a peacock like spot on their tails.

I would try to stay away from the Coral Beauty's and Flame Angels. They do get big and some love to destroy the reef.

Thanks for the heads up bout the angle fish.
Do cleaner shrimp have as much bioload impact on the system as a fish. So i guess my guestion is can i have 3 fish and 1 cleaner shrimp. Or is it a total of 3 livestock besides crabs and snails.

If you have a sand bottom, get a twinspot goby. I really like mine. I haven't seen it eat yet, but it is constantly sifting sand, so there must be some good stuff there!

I have never seen a twin spot goby or a gree clon goby. Is there a good data base that has pictures of those two fish. Can either one of those two go with a bicolor blenny.

Kevin ususally has a couple of twin spots in his store, I don't have any good pics of mine. They should get along, but it's like anything else in this hobby. You just have to hope

Yippy, yahoooooo!!!!!! I took a sample of water to Kevinpo's store today to get it tested, and he informed me it has cycled and i was able to start putting some friends in it. After almost 2 long years i'm back to having some salty friends.

its only a 16 gallon life cube, so i have to be choosy. Of course i put some crabs and snails. The first fish is a Royal Gamma.

Its amazing how having a little fish tank with little fish can make a person feel complete again.

Sorry i couldnt help myself. Its gotta be the salt that gets to our heads that makes us crazy with this hobby...

Speaking of royal gramma that is great and under appreciated choice. My bicolor is a little bigger (biggest fish in my 30gal).The twin spot is super cool,awsome personality and I think it stays small. The shimp will have a smaller bioload than any fish.
