I have this blue spotted jawfish that was CRAZY active. Now in the last week or so he has become very shy and is not eating.

When I would clean the tank he would come out and watch me and now he hides. Now all he does is stay in his home with a head sticking a little out.

Any thoughts?

Not a good sign. What other changes have been made to the tank? When you say cleaning, what does that mean specifically? What does it normally eat and how often? How long have you had it? Water tested recently? Where does it make it's home? Other fish in the tank?Pictures of tank available?

No other changes at all, all other fish are fine and going about their business as normal. Flake food twice a day and he ate like a pig. I have had him about 6 months. Water tests are fine. It makes his home under the rocks. Other fish are two clowns, 1 royal gramma, 1 fire fish, 1 flame angel. I siphon out water clean glass add new water.

Thanks

Sounds fine, do any other fish chase it into its home?

Try some frozen food or chopped up fresh shrimp or clams dropped near the cave opening

no not really. But the really odd thing he acts like he had a stroke or is old. I am not sure if fish can have a stroke. But that was my first response when I saw him.

I have to tell until a week or so ago. He was the most active fish I have and now something has changed in him. Makes me sad.
