Iwould like to keep a small school of fish. In my past tank i had a small school of green chromis but would like something different . Any suggestions ? Anthias(i like the purple queen) or maybe bangaii cardinal? Priorities would be non-aggressive and ease of care in that order . Thanks for the help in advance.

if it means anything, i love my anthias. Always out front, beautiful colors and fun to watch them swim.

Pajama cardnials are very cool to watch as well. They get good sized and have very neat interactions. I love to watch them. Steve

My experience with Anthias is they're very active fish and very beautiful but you must feed them often or they'll waste away, so you'd need excellent filtration especially if it's a reef, they would also need a large tank to keep them in schools I think the recomendation in WWM is a minimum of a 120.

I am in agreement with Michael (1991) in not suggesting the necessity of group purchase and husbandry. The various Anthiines live in large aggregations with a definite pecking order that is not replicable or desirable in captive care. If you want to buy a colorful male, only buy one. Similarly, unless you have a very large tank, more than one (or two) females is unnecessary and may well lead to endless fighting and loss. If you lose your only or alpha (dominant) male, the next most dominant specimen will in time change sex to take it's place.

thanks everyone .i have narrored it between pajama cardnials or longspine cardnials i just cant find where to get them online ?my lfs is crazy high on prices.

Personally, I'd go with the Bangaii Cardinals....much less expensive and they readily breed in captivity....they are also very unique looking.
Check www.liveaquaria.com

I've ordered from them in the past and had good results...Nikki has ordered from www.vividaquarium.com before and had great experiances as well. Vivid also happens to be a sponsor here.
