Check this out.....think I might be purchasing this bad boy.....

*¾ inch hose barb inline with ½ inch hose barb ‘T’ with valve for UV Sterilizer- $11.99
*1 inch hose barb inline with ½ inch hose barb ‘T’ with valve for UV Sterilizer- $13.99
*1 inch hose barb inline with 3/4 inch hose barb ‘T’ with valve for UV Sterilizer- $15.99
1 inch by 3/4 diverter recommended for 18 watt or larger
 
That would work, If you can get to the hardware store all of those pieces will cost you about $9. The T is only like $0.40, the three barbed fittings are about $1 each, and the valve will be about $5. You won't need the extra coupler they have on each side of the T though if you get a T that is threaded. You will also want a some hose clamps. Those will work perfectly fine though if you don't want to attempt it yourself.
