fluval 404 & 305

just starting out i want to know what to put in the cannisters on my 404 and 305 please do i leave the sponges in or take them out i have a 260L tank and i'm running a protein skimmer with three powerheads thanx

I would ditch the fluvals but thats just me...the protein skimmer and your LR will do more than the fluval ever will....

I use a fluval though I could go without it... it does have benefits.

Its a good mechanical filter, adds to your bio filtering, and the 3 trays makes it great for added media.

For my Fluval I have broken down live tonga rocks in the bottom tray, Phosban in the center tray,, and those hexagon ceramic like stones in the top tray ...

Since you havem might as well usem. They do add flow from the out take also.
