For spinner and peppie

LOL Kevin.
Laugh if you will, but that little spinner I was using gave my tank a very good random flow. I am still trying to figure out how to use it in the BIG BUILD, without it being seen.
I think Spinner has a super duper model. That we have not yet seen!!!! Hint Hint Hint..

Are you going to hook a water line to that?? You may have to glue it to the bottom of the tank!!

Dave, seriously I think that spinner in the pic is all plastic parts and the tips are adjustable like yours. you could disassemble one to make sure it is all plactic...then hook up a 6000gph pump to a couple and there you go!

Ha Ha,
You would have to drill some monster holes in it to get 3000 gph thru it. Not sure you could adjust the rotation speed with that model.

I have been using spinners for 20+ years and find their flow to be most useful in a reef environment:) I have a design patent Aquarium Filter 414-242 with them as a flow/wavemaking device. I have some new ones/style i will share soon that will do up to 1000gph while creating a vortex flow..........with no noise:)

Those plastic sprinklers can be found alot of places lots of them are all plastic.

I'd use that in a heartbeat! I'd even jam that thing in a pico even if it scrapes the side of the tank!!

Thinking about this a bit more, it would make for a nice sea-swirl replacement if you flipped it upside down and had it on the surface of your water!:hail:

ah ha! way ahead of ya....great minds think alike. am seeing if I can mount this upside down a 65g with a center brace. it already has a mag 9.5 return so I may as well take advantage of it!

it can be trimmed up much more, pretty much down to the square channel. on the spinner part, note that there are hard plastic tubes that carry the water to the end points. These could be shortend and modded pretty much any way you want with any number of options for terminals.

well, after much time at the hardware store trying to figure out the best fittings to maximize flow ( which you cant cuz the spinner has about a 3/8 max inner diameter) I came home and proceeded to hook er up. the spinner has a leak so I didn't get a full test or time to take pics but I will say I was VERY impressed right out of the gate. that mag 9.5 has much more head than I thought and I know with some mods I could make it pretty sweet......HOWEVER, before I even hooked it up I was back at the hardware store cuz I had a huge idea for a sea swirl type device and I actually hooked it up first! This device is so promissing that at this time I want to keep it to myself, and although I have no intention of patents etc I would like to give it some time to see if a want to offer a few on ebay etc. before I make the design public...which it will be pretty easy to reverse engineer is why I have no intention on taking it further.

what I can say is it is a spinner type, but assembled from individual parts, and the flow direction and speed are adjustable.

No self respecting DIYer shops E-Bay for sprinkler parts, modded to put in his fish tank.
You just cant say you have just reinvented the wheel without some proof!!!

DON'T MAKE ME COME OVER THERE!!!!

I'll bet you are going to use a side to side sprinkler for your home made Seaswirll. Yes??

Come on man! I need to get some sleep tonight, I got a early day tomorrow!!

Tell ya what, you and a few select others can come see it. its only a prototype....and sooooo simple!!! and now that I know the basics works I need some time to look for "ideal" parts. you I will especially share with as I know you are exploring using the like in your new tank.

the major advantage over the sprinkler is larger inner diameter of the system all the way through.

here is a teaser.... the swirly gig is actualy running in the pic.

can you see it? :behindsofa:

I can see your smile from here:) Wecome to the world of spinner......wait till your corals adjust its a nice option for them. It should also make some nice action on the surface for you too.

Nope, I cant see it.
Hows that white pvc pipe laying on the top of your water look from the inside of the tank??

it was only hooked up to test. if i decide to use on that tank I will drill a hole through the center brace and you should see nuttin.
