fragging how to ?

i have a cup coral its a sps and has 2 small babies growning on the side of the base i have been wanting to frag them off to sell or maby move to another tank the mother is about 4-5inches across and is a verry nice lite violet the smaller babies are about 1inch across .. they are starting to make the mother tip and grow off to the side now oh what to do and how to do it ?:lol:

It'll depend on what you're calling a "cup coral." "Cup Coral" usually refers to the family, Dendrophyllidae, which includes Tubastraea, Cladopsammia, Rhizopsammia, etc. There's some debate on if these are considered SPS or LPS...lol. How you frag will depend on which species you have. Some grow in a branching form, and can be snapped, like a wish-bone. Others grow in an encrusting or scrolling pattern, and need different methods of fragging.

Would you happen to know of a good website to look up the different fraging techniques for each type of coral? As a newbie I know I would be interested in reading something along those lines.

that would be a good thread to start there mike take pictures of you fragging all different types of corals of anybody for that matter.

well got a chance to get the pics of the coral I'm wanting to frag. this will be my first major frag other than some softies that i have parted out so any easy way ?

If all you want to frag are the couple of babies, you should be able to snip them right off with a pair of side cutters. Otherwise, you could use a dremel tool, scroll saw, wet tile saw...just about anything. Even a hack saw would work. Score it, from the bottom up to the tissue, and then cut the tissue with a razor. If you use a scroll or wet tile saw, you don't even need to worry about that. Just zip right through it.
