My cube is 30x30x30. I have had it 20+ years. It has been a reef for just the past 3 or so years. My yellow Brazillian Moray Eel (Smiley) has survived when the other fish around him croaked during the power failure event, he's a trouper!
I chucked the DSB as the last 6-8 months of fighting nuisanse algae was a losing battle. So now I have the 100 gal. cube sharing a bare bottom 100gal. sump (with Live Rock) with my 7ft x 2ft 150 gal Frag system. All bare bottom NO Sand Baby! I'm not saying that it can't work. It did for me for almost three years. Ya the rock work came out great, It looked so good that I didn't put any coral in for a couple of days ; I just liked looking at it! It is SO CLEAN.
Well I have been adding 15-20 frags a day now for the past 3 days. Just another 20 or 30 and I'll be set.
A special thanks goes to Bob Moore for hooking me up with, among other things, a good sized peice of the "ICE Blue Staghorn. I lost the original colony in that da....mn power failure last winter. The generator is now gased up and ready for action.
