if you post 35 times and start a tread you get put on the list they are giving a way lots of free stuff

and I'm on the list woo whoo they are giving a way 10000 in free corals for new members to gain users

Here's a thread with thoughts on both sides of this. ;)

I dont think I'll ever be signing up to this sight. I dont intend to ever be involved in all of the name lineage hype or have a tank full of "brand name" corals.

Its not a free purple hornet. It's 36.95 for one. I bet you could start a thread in the equipment forum and find a purple hornet locally for $35.

I've talked to a couple people on rf and they wont let them go for less than $50-$55 a polyp.

I looked over that site and I guess Im just clueless as usual. Looks like they want you to join up to keep the prices inflated on corals they feel they created or something. Good luck with that. Just sounds like a business thing to me but hay, if it works for then that’s great.

if you read closly if you have a few people in one area to ship to one spot the price goes up 2 dollars a frag..
So if you get three people the shipping will be 41 dollars for three frags.
Thats near 14 dollars each..
Now find me a purple hornet for that !!!

Yeah, this is just a bad idea all around. Even if it's not a money making gimmick, or a way to keep coral prices inflated, it's sure going to "muddy" up corals that are already lineaged. For instance, the lineage STARTS with the person registering a coral. So, say for instance, I register A Tyree LE coral, it's will NOT have Steve Tyree's name on it. It'll have my name, or whatever name I register it as. HOWEVER, I'd not be allowed to register it with "Steve Tyree" in the name. Same with ORA Corals. I would be allowed to register an ORA coral, under whatever name I wanted, as long as it doesn't have "ORA" in the name. What a mess!!

We have yet to buy a coral because we liked the name, we buy because we like the look. As for keeping prices inflated what's the point? If you are buying corals as an investment and are worried about keeping prices up you may want to consult a good financial advisor. Just my .02.

i don't buy them by name because i always forget them i jest buy the ones i like and i don't sell so i cant keep the prices up
but if i had a paper with a pic i will remember what it is not the cool purple one in the corner lol

I agree there too. I would definately not buy because of a name, but it is nice when you know for reference. And if you pay buck bucks for quality stuff, why shouldn't you get your money out of it? Pure bred dogs come with papers, shouldn't corals? I do own a mutt though, and love him just the same. I think some of my corals are mutts.
