Lee,
Not sure if you have freshwater fish, or do advice for them but I have a question on one I have been treating in a hospital tank.
Its a Serpae tetra and had bulging eyes, red gills ect.. I pulled it out and have been treating it with melafix. The treatment has worked very well, to a point. The fishes eyes were really bad when I started. It looks tons better, id say 3/4 of the way back to normal. But not all the way. It eats really good anything I give it, but im at the "now what" stage. I can do a partial water change and redo the melafix but wondering if that will help. Have you ever seen a fish recover but not all the way and be fine? I dont want to put it back if it will give the other fish its problem. But if the eyes will never go back all the way...
Im not sure if you can do other meds with the melfix or not.
Any thoughts..

Did u just get that fish? usually if its cloudy eye it usually formed by injury in transportation, mishandled, injured itself, or just poor water quality. In my freshwater days i usually never usually dosed with medication as it can be harsh. IMO if he eating and is fine i would continue to do water changes and stop with the melfix and give him time to heal before placing him back into the tank. But if does get worse and is still puffy or inflamed(maybe a internal injury like pop eye?)i would use some form of antibiotic.

Melafix and Primafix have been known to work -- sometimes. Its greatest successes have been with freshwater fishes. I would prefer in general an appropriate antibiotic rather than these products.

I can't recommend anything beyond using an antibiotic in that area because I am not familiar with freshwater fish diseases.

Okay,
I struggle with them too, more often than not the freshwater fish seem to not make it.
I'm trying another dose of the melafix, after a partial water change since the bottle says its okay.

Maybe there is hope, since the first treatment I did helped alot and fast.
Thanks anyways!

I've had the fish for almost a year, its part of a school of tetras. I've struggled with this tank since I bought some fish at petco about six months ago.

I'm going to finish the Melifix treatment and let it heal
hopefully before i put it back.
Thanks for trying to help!
