Id personally go with drsfosterandsmith or petsolutions for the rock, or get a chunk of it from someone, and get some base rock from marcorocks.com and then seed it, usually want to go with 1-2 lbs per gallon for rock and sand, is a base rule of thumb.

now some people will tell you some number as to how much live rock you need per gallon.
i say play it by ear. if you have amazing filtration and refugiums, then you may not need as much as the guy with an air stone and a power head.

i wouldn't order live rock on line unless you have a curing tank.

did he just say what i think he said?

yes i did.

you see when you buy it off of the internet, and have them ship it too you it comes dry.

when the rock dries, the little tiny microorganisms that make the rock "live" die.

now they ship you this disgusting rotten rock.

if you put it in your tank, it will realy set you back, trust me.

wheni started out i put one rock in the tank.

i had boughten it from the notorius "crystal reef aquariums". they had inproperly cured it.

it took me months to reverse the damage.

so, my advice would be to buck up, pay the extra $ or 2 and get it from the lfs.

then again ....... i'm only 14
