Seachem's usually pretty quick on their responses. If not today I would expect something by tomorrow.

On the water changes, as far as I know, you can just "replace" what is taken out. Not like previously where you do a water change and then redose. Rather if you do a 5 gal water change from the 10, you replace the med needed for the 5 gal, ie.. 2 1/2 scoops. In essence, you just end up maintaining the dosage level, not increasing the level.

One level measure to every 2 gallons. Repeat once a week for up to three weeks. I sent an inquiry to Seachem, not sure how long it will take to get a response. I will go ahead and add their recomended dose.
Kim,

I took the liberty of e-mailing Seachem myself to get a better undestanding of their recommendations. I would actually suggest you disregard them.

The scoop size included with the Neoplex is only 180 mg so at a rate of one scoop per 2 gal of water you would only net a dosage level of 90 mg/gal. This is alomost half the recommended dosage for this particular antibiotic. Neomycin sulfate should be dosed at a rate of 250 mg/gal to be properly effective in marine applications. If still using the 10 gal volume in your QT, you should actually dose just shy of 14 scoops (13.88 to be exact), 14 level scoops would be close enough though. This would yield a dosage of 252 mg/gal which should work very well.

Cheers

Hi Steve

Just got my response from Seachem. I have filled the tank back up to the full 20 gallons so I will be using 28 scoops I guess...good thing I ordered extra;)
The Furanase should be here around 3pm..I will do a water change and start adding it as well..I presume I double the dose?
Be chatting with ya

Nope, this one you actually follow the directions on the package. :p

Okay...I just got the Furanase.
I am running carbon in the tank right now..I want to try to get as much of the neomycin out as possible. I am going to change out most of the water and start from scratch
Keep your fingers and toes crossed for my little guy!
Thanks again, Kim

Why?

Finger sure, toes may require copious amounts of vodka.. :D

Okay...my little guy is still alive. Before I started the Furanase, he had developed a more fuzzy on the outside of his mouth. I was actually wondering if I should cease the use of the antibiotics and just finish up with the Furanase? I honestly go downstairs every morning and expect to find him dead:cry: He's gotten so thin. He amazes me. I only hope I can help pull him through this! I will keep you posted!

Its strange. The new growth appeared when I went a couple of days with no medication. Other than that, it seems to be at a stand still

I am on my way to change the water in that tank right now

Where you still doing water changes during those three days?

Have you seen/can you tell if this might also be Lympho in combination with the "fuzzies"? Are the original indications of the infection gone, just leaving a warty appearance?

Cheers
Steve

Kim - if you think it would help (I'm not sure if you have a camera or not), but I can come by and bring my camera, so you can show Steve what the area looks like. Of course, the subject would have to be willing to get a picture taken :).

Thanks Nikki...Thats a good idea. I can't seem to get good photos. Just let me know when your available..lol Monday night would work..hopefully he'll hang on. I'll have you get the Tangs too!!

Sad news:( He is near dead right now. I came home this evening to find him hovering at the top of the tank. He was having problems staying upright. I did a water change but he is now behind the powerhead:cry:

I am right now feeling sad and relieved at the same time. It has been very hard watching this once beautiful fish waste away

I realize conditions like these are difficult to treat. With it being in his mouth made it more so. Hard for him to fight it off when he was so weak

Thanks for all your help Steve, we tried! Now I can turn full attention to these darn Tangs!

So sorry Kim! I can come by this evening if you want me to get pics of the tangs. My little one is home sick today, so it will have to be after her dad gets home. Shoot me a PM and we can figure out times, etc...
