The tail whip of a 3" pacific blue tang IS strong enough to break a floating glass thermometer....yes in the tank.......... So while hooking up a calcium reactor we were emptying the the sump of excess hardware and put a floating thermometer form the sump into the display so it would not be broken. The first time we heard the snap aginst the glass we looked to see what it was, the third time while we were watching the thermometer that the tang was attacking with tail whips it broke, emptying the bb's into our 120g display. By now we have vaccumed a quarter of the sand out of the tank, after sweeping the sand and rocks with a strong magnet. The magnet seemed to pick up alot of the bb's but there is really no way to tell if we got them all so we took out 25g and sucked all of the sand from that end of the tank as well as suucking all we could out of the rocks that were near where it broke. I am pretty confident that we got everything but I guess only time will tell. If anybody has any suggestion as to what other measures should be taken plaese advise. Thanks, Jeff and Christie
