Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

from what I've heard it's pretty aggressive, but's that's just hearsay... although i'am speaking in reference to a galaxy coral, if it's the same thing... Just trying to help, maybe do a google... Happy Holidays, Jeff

Welcome to Reef Frontiers!!!

From what I've read they are aggressive, and you will want to watch where you place them. Here is something I found:

A strong statement must be made re spacing these colonies from other sessile invertebrates. Their stinging sweeper tentacles are long and deliver a real wallop to animals that can't move away.

Oculinidae

I have seen the sweepers on mine extend as long as 8". It doesn't seem to grow quickly though. If you have the room, good flow, and stable conditions, it's a pretty neat coral to have.

Welcome to RF. Galaxia a LPS is very agressive towards SPS. Anthelle(softie) is one of the corals I remember that can actively keep Galaxia in its place. Anthelle looks peaceful and usually is. But Galaxia did not seem to hurt it. My anthelle would corner the Galaxia. I got rid of Anthelle and my Galaxia started shooting out little shell like pods to procreate. I recently traded it for fear of losing other corals. That was my experience and oppinion.
I hope this helps,
Ed:)

Very aggressive! Mine have sweeper tenticles up to 8" also. They are beautiful corals that grow very quickly. I have fragged mine many times just to keep it small. Here is a pic of it in action...
