Hi all, as a new member to Reef Frontiers I have been reading thread after thread...... lots of new stuff out there.

I started in SW aquarium keeping about 12-15 yrs ago and felt like I was getting a handle on things at that time.... however school for the next million years and moves kept me away from the "addiction."

Now that Im back... I feel like I don't know squat anymore... a million new abbreviations, 'fuges, etc that weren't really discussed then....

Onto the questions:
1. I live in southern CA - south Riverside area (Temecula/Murrieta) - what are some good local stores to start looking at equipment options in my area. Don't mind driving a bit IF the retailer is a big place.
2. Are there periodicals that people like to read that focus mostly on reef/SW aquaria?

Thanks... and I'm sure there will be a bunch more questions in the near future

Welcome to RF dood :) .
There's a lot to read in here about how to set up a tank and what to do and what not to do :p .
I believe Marine depot is in California but don't know exactly where.
What are your plans? like what size of tank are you planning on having?

Welcome aboard oakasfan, check out our library it has thousands of articles.

Welcome to Reef Frontiers!!!! and Welcome back to your addiction...er...the hobby!!!

For reading, reading, and more reading, you can have a peek at the articles in our Resource Library. Also, there are some good books out there. I like the book "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist" by Fenner. It has some good information in it on all aspects of the hobby.

You might want to check out your local reef club for recommendations on vendors in your area. I'm not sure if this club will be local to you but here it is: Southern California Marine Aquarium Society, or you can check out other Reef Clubs in California to see if there are any closer to you.

Look forward to hearing more questions! We have a great group of members here, so ask away!

Do you have an idea of a tank size you want to set-up?

Right now I am hoping on a reef tank.... smaller size, dont have an exact number as far as gallons. First tank will likely be in a family room area where sumps, other equip will be difficult to keep hidden. I am looking at some of the "all in one" type tanks.... Uniquarium was one of the brands I believe. I have been looking for reviews of these types of tanks but not come up with much.

I am one who researches to death before I buy... any helpful info would be great.
Thanks for the welcome to the site.

Yeah welcome aboard and feel free to ask questions as they arise, people here are very nice and respond surprisingly quickly.

Pet world in San bernardino has a pretty Nice collection of coral. Seems like they deal majorly to the saltwater community. Or so it seems
