Getting rid of mushrooms

I have a couple species of mushrooms that hitchhiked in on my rock and proliferated over the past couple years. They're not unpleasently colored (people pay money for these sorts), but I'm moving in an SPS direction with a couple LPS at the tank bottom, so I'd really like them gone.

Unfortunatly, they're tenacious little buggers. How can I get rid of these? They're bound to rock that has other stuff (zoas) on it that I'd like to keep, so boiling the rock isn't an option.

Any suggestions?

Trade your mushroom rock to a fellow reefer for a larger or better non-mushroom rock. Win-win situation

I tried to use Kalk on my mushrooms. The only problem is, If you miss you may kill something else. I killed a clam like this.

Chisel them off your rock. It will look bad for a couple months, but the rock will "color up" again in about 3-4 months. You can then trade them in on some SPS.

I vote for the chisel method too...as long as you can get the rock out of the tank. I think that's going to be your best bet for totally getting rid of them. Send them my way!!

I had the same problem. I got a chisel and a hammer out. Took the rock out of the tank and put it on a syrifoam box lid. One good hit and you cam chip them off with very little rock.

I heard you can inject them with that Joe's Juice stuff and that may kill them. I also heard of kalk paste on the base after you cut the mushroom off.

I'll see if I can get the rock out. Its the very bottom rock supporting all the rest of my aquascaping, but that's probably the best bet.
