Hi
let me preface this with the fact that I know absolutely nothing about electricity. I did know enough to have the outlets for my tank GFI though. anyway on occasion without any specific pattern or reason my tank will trip the outlet and shut down. I have two tunze pumps my main coralife turbo-sea high pressure main pump, 3 magnetic ballast that run 3 150 watt MH and a ballast that runs 4 96 watt actinics. I also have a ozone unit and a aquamedic turbo-flotor shorty for a skimmer. why would my tank occasionlly without warning trip and shut off. It can run for weeks then all of a sudden shut off. Any help is much appreciated.
thanks
pam

Could be one of your loads occasionally has slight current leakage to ground or more than likely it is your GFIC.
I had similar problems with an annoying trip of the GFI associated with running my PC lights. I could run all my other loads including 2 250W MH without problems, but when I plugged in the PC's the GFI would trip immediately or within 15-20 minutes.
I also tried separate , independent outlet and it also tripped the GFIC.
The problem was corrected by using a new(and different GFI) than what was installed in the house originally(which was only 9 months ago).
Haven't had a single trip since then.
